An Ohio weatherman lost it on live TV after viewers complained his severe weather warning was interrupting the reality show The Bachelorette late on Monday. 

Jamie Simpson was giving updates on the tornadoes, which would go on to ravage the Dayton area later in the night, when he saw complaints pour in on social media.  

'We have viewers complaining already, "just go back to the show." No, we're not going back to the show, folks. This is a dangerous situation,' the Fox 45 meteorologist said.

The fuming weatherman said: 'I'm sick and tired of people complaining about this. Our job here is to keep people safe and that's what we're going to do'

Simpson walked on screen to continue his rant facing the camera. 

'It's your neighborhood. I'm sick and tired of people complaining about this. Our job here is to keep people safe and that's what we're going to do.'

'Some of you complain that this is all about my ego. Stop, ok? Just stop right now. It's not.'

Simpson then stormed off screen, snapping: 'I'm done with you people, I really am. This is pathetic.'   

Complaints from The Bachelorette fans who had been watching Hannah Brown hand out roses when Simpson's weather bulletin aired included: 'Just trying to watch the bachelorette but the stinkin weather man won't get off my tv (sic).' 

Another Twitter user wrote: 'PUT THE BACHELORETTE BACK ON!!! Enough about the friggin weather RTV6!!!'

Before he returned to the weather report, Simpson apologized to viewers for losing his cool, although he did not go back on his message. 

'Alright. I’m sorry, I did that,' he said. 

'It just really bothers me that we have people that don’t care about other people’s safety around here. That’s just ridiculous.'

The clip of Simpson's rant was widely shared on social media.  

The Bachelorette herself chimed in, tweeting her support for the weatherman. 

'Lolz too funny, thanks Dayton, Ohio for the love, but be safe. naders are no joke,' Hannah Brown wrote.

Other Twitter users also praised Simpson for his work following what some called 'the scariest night of their lives'. 

'There's no doubt that because of amazing, dedicated and genuinely concerned meteorologists like @JamieFox45Now injuries from last night's devastating tornadoes that ripped through Dayton, OH were kept to a minimum,' one person wrote. 

Later that night, a tornadoes ripped through the Dayton area, killing at least one person and injuring scores of others.

They ripped roofs from houses and left five million people without power. 

At least half a dozen communities from eastern Indiana through central Ohio suffered damage, according to the National Weather Service. 

RTV6 said the May 27 episode of 'The Bachelorette' will rerun on May 28, from 3pm to 5pm local time, due to the weather alerts interrupting broadcast in Ohio.
