On March 11, the police arrested eight people suspected of killing a man. The victim, who was in his 60s, was discovered in Reykjavík’s Grafarvogur neighbourhood and transported to hospital, where he subsequently died, Vísir reports.

On the evening of March 10, the South Iceland police received a tip expressing concerns about the man’s travels. He had left his home in Þorlákshöfn earlier that evening. During the police investigation, they discovered that the man had been kidnapped.

The suspects were promptly detained. Following police interrogation, three of them were released. Some of the suspects have previously been charged with violent convictions. The youngest arrestee is 18 years old. Police suspect that the case is linked to financial extortion.

According to Vísir, the investigation is still in its infancy.
