FORMER boxing champion and anti-violence advocate Danny Green has weighed in on reports that Bachelorette villain Blake Colman may be joining the cast of Channel 10’s new spin-off, Bachelor in Paradise.

It comes after Confidential revealed Colman left Cottesloe financial controller Tristan Cooper unconscious on a Claremont street, paralysed and bleeding from the head in 2015, after running up from behind him.

Green established the Coward’s Punch campaign to save lives and shame thugs who think it is tough to throw them.

“I’m not surprised at all that a TV show would have a person of a certain character, who commits a cowardly act against someone, on their show,” Green said.

“This leniency is reflective of our judicial system and constitution that has eroded to the point where the perpetrator is afforded as much sympathy as the victim.

“The politicians need to change the legislation to free the judges up to impose harsher penalties for these crimes. Our community needs to rise up against some of the regulations in the current constitution.”

Green wants some assault legislation changed to specifically refer to “coward’s punch” assaults.

Almost two years after the 2015 incident involving Mr Cooper, Colman pleaded guilty and was given an $850 fine and ordered to pay Mr Cooper compensation.

The impact was so hard that Mr Cooper’s female friend was sprayed with blood. He required four staples to close his head wound.

Mr Cooper said he was disappointed to hear that Mr Colman may be on TV again.

“He got a slap on the wrist and then he gets rewarded,” Mr Cooper said.

Colman is also under investigation by NSW Police over allegations that he threatened to sell nude photos of his ex-girlfriend, The Bachelor’s Jennifer Hawke, who is also tipped to appear on Bachelor in Paradise.

Channel 10 refused to confirm or deny whether Colman or Hawke would be joining the reality show, which is set in Fiji.
