Mother of 'Sweet Home Alabama' reality show contestant murdered in Memphis home, police say

Memphis police are investigating the murder of the mother of ex-reality show contestant Devin Grissom, star of 2011's "Sweet Home Alabama."

Susan Grissom, 56, was found dead Tuesday night inside her home in Harbor Town. Police told Local24 the matter is being handled as an active homicide investigation. Police have not identified a suspect or provided additional details on the nature of Grissom's death.

Grissom's daughter, Devin, rose to fame in as the star of the CMT show, a Southern version of "The Bachelorette," the long-running dating show. The show was filmed in Point Clear, Alabama.

At the time, Devin Grissom, who grew up in Cordova, Tennessee, was a junior at the University of Alabama. Grissom recently married Nashville realtor Jameson Roper.
