Kenyan entrepreneurs will get another chance to attract funding for their businesses in the second season of the weekly business-pitch TV reality show Lion’s Den.

The show will feature 63 entrepreneurs out of the 5,000 applicants. Thirty two per cent are women.

The programme, sponsored by Kenya Commercial Bank’s #ticker:KCB youth fund, will see entrepreneurs get an opportunity to pitch their ideas with local business magnates from this month in exchange for potential capital injection and partnerships.

“We are promising viewers a high quality show with much more expectation than the first season because applicants had time to learn from Season One. We can tell from the quality of applications that the standards have changed for the better and we certainly have great applications that will without a doubt engage the Lions and the audience intensely,” said KCB Director of Marketing and Communications Angela Mwirigi.

“Our desire as KCB Bank is to see young entrepreneurs connect with successful venture capitalists who have already cut their teeth in the business world, not only at the show but also SMEs out there watching the show.”

KCB, which is targeting SME customers, is already running the 2jiajiri Business Initiative, a Sh50 billion job creation and skills development programme where startups have a chance to get finances at 14 per cent interest.
