Britain’s Got Talent fans will remember MerseyGirl performer Julia Carlile who helped secure a golden buzzer from Alesha Dixon.

But the 15-year-old also drew compassion from Simon Cowell when she explained that her dance career could be cut short by a debilitating disease.

Julia suffers from scoliosis, a back condition where the spine is curved to one side.

But 56-year-old Cowell - won over by the teen - vowed to help her fight the disease, saying during the process of BGT that: “Whatever happens, we’ll make sure you’re all right.”

And now Julia has undergone two rounds of operations to help her back- and she it thrilled to be back on her feet and dancing.

Taking to Twitter, the reality show finalist said: "9 days post op and i'm dancing already, it was a long bumpy road to recovery but i did it! Second op tomorrow #strong #fighter #scoliosis”.

She then updated fans again following the second round of surgery - believed to have been paid for by Simon - and revealed it too had been a success.

"Second surgery was a success! Now on the road to recovery. Thankyou @SimonCowell @CowellOnline #strong #recovery #fighter,” the dancer wrote.

Alesha Dixon had been impressed by Julia and her dance troupe when they appeared on the ITV talent show and awarded them a golden buzzer to go straight through to live rounds.

The five-strong group of girls then made it all the way to the final - placing ninth overall while pianist Tokio Myers scooped the top prize.
