A husband has claimed his wife was drugged and raped while taking part in a reality TV show.

Andrej Laharnar, the partner of Serbian reality show contestant Mirela Lapanovic, made the allegations after explicit scenes of her relationship with Milutin Radosavljevic Milija were aired.

Viewers saw the pair get steamy under the covers in a shocking episode of the Big Brother-style show, which is filmed in Serbian capital Belgrade.

Mr Laharnar says the production team behind Couples used drugs to manipulate his partner into a sexual scene to boost viewer figures and are trying to cover up the rape.

Her male partner in the sex scene may also have been given drugs, he said.

He added: "If only they showed her the footage, she would be shocked and she would realise she was abused.

"The production is not allowing the contestants or the audience to talk about the terrible incident.

"They are trying to cover up the rape but the truth will come out."

The reality contestants had since been pressured into pretending that the sex scene was faked for the cameras, he claims.

He also said that drug use was rife among people involved in the controversial TV show.

Last year the show made headlines when a husband was shown on TV apparently strangling his wife.

There was no comment from the production team behind Couples.
