The show is resuming for the 26th season, which will culminate with the crowning of the inaugural UFC women’s flyweight champion. In an interview, Gevorgyan discussed how she got her start fighting in Armenia, what it’s like to train there, and more. “I got into sports when I was a kid, and my whole family was involved in sports. But as an MMA, I started three years ago,” she said. “Compared to the United States, I can’t say it’s popular in Armenia, I am the only Armenian female fighter there, but lots of men are involved in this type of sports." Despite the anxiety over a different culture and language in the U.S., Gevorgyan says she is happy to have been selected and would be extremely happy to win. The show features professional MMA fighters living together in Las Vegas, Nevada, and follows them as they train and compete against each other for a prized contract with the UFC. The series debuted on January 17, 2005, each season features either one or two weight classes in the tournament.
